PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Lignocaine Hydrochloride 2% Gel is a topical anaesthetic gel that numbs the skin where it is applied. Each 30g tube contains lignocaine hydrochloride 2%, which is the same as 20 mg of lignocaine per gram of gel. It is intended for external use only and can be used to ease the pain, itching and discomfort of minor skin problems.

The gel spreads easily and is applied in a thin layer to the affected area. It is a useful item for the family first-aid kit.

HOW IT WORKS

Lignocaine is a local anaesthetic. It temporarily blocks the nerve signals that carry pain from the treated area to the brain. As a result, the area becomes numb and pain is reduced. The numbing effect usually starts within a few minutes and wears off again once the gel is removed and the medicine clears from the area.

HOW TO USE

1. Wash your hands, then clean the affected area with mild soap and water and pat it dry.
2. Apply a thin layer of gel to the affected area only and spread it gently.
3. Wash your hands after use.
4. Do not apply more than the amount recommended on the pack or by your doctor or pharmacist.

IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION

• For external use only. Do not swallow.
• Avoid contact with the eyes. If the gel gets into the eyes, rinse well with clean water.
• Do not use on large areas of skin or on deep or seriously injured skin without medical advice.
• Do not use if you are allergic to lignocaine or similar local anaesthetics.
• Ask a doctor before using on babies and young children, in pregnancy or when breastfeeding, or if you have a heart, liver or blood condition.
• Stop use and seek medical advice if you develop a rash, swelling, unusual skin irritation, or if the pain does not improve.
• Keep out of the reach of children. Store as directed on the pack.
